Each Monday morning I spend about an hour working out both my personal and business goals for the week. I like goals and I like lists! Yes, some of my friends hold their thumb and finger to their forehead (L) when I talk about them but when I try to do the same back I always use the wrong hand and really do look like a total L. Anyway, I digress….. weekly goal setting is time well spent and roughly outlines the next seven days. Allow time for unexpected happenings as well as relax and rest time….also put in a bit of nothing time for the times you just cant be bothered doing as much. However, like in the last blog, that down time usually spurs one onto doing a lot afterwards; so it is time well spent as long as there is a limit on it.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence therefore, is not an act but a habit

I really do believe that routine is critical to success. We spend a great deal of our day doing the same things over and over again- eating, hygiene, cleaning etc. So the more we can make these tasks automatic the better for us and the more time we will have to achieve so much more in life. Learn from professionals how they clean, model yourself on someone who is doing something the way you would like to and that way you will get the same results as them. If your habits are not working hard enough for you, change them!

great quote, good words-habits are critical to my success
i enjoyed the read, funny and easy to get. i love routine but always have trouble keeping to the ones ild like to do most (activities with my kids).
love your random quotes.
Thanks for the comment Victoria. Our routines really do play such a large role in our lives. It’s important to make sure that the ones we have are working for us in the best possible way
indeed, the essence of skill is to be able to do something without consciously directing it. Ask any musician, sportsman or dancer ‘how’ they do what they do, and they’ll just shrug their shoulders. I just ‘do’ it. When you reach that point, the practice has become totally embodied, incorporated. Same goes for mental habits.
Habits are one of the most over looked aspects of self. Because they are so quiet when they operate (being automated for the most part) they can go unnoticed for a long time, which is fine for the enhancing habits but not so great with those habits that do not bring us closer to where we truly want to be. Thanks
